The School and the Culture

We plan to begin with classes for grades 7, 8, and 9, in Fall 2026, anticipating a class size of ~10 students per grade level.  In the years following that, we will add 10th, 11th, and 12th grades, adding teachers and classes along the way, and hopefully adding students to hit 30 per grade level.  We are targeting a facility in the Irving-Bedford-DFW region, with both classrooms and areas for practical learning (kitchen, sewing room, wood shop, garage for metal/auto work, etc.).

A school day will consist of classes from 8:00 am to ~1:15 pm (7 periods of 45min).  We anticipate that classes will be a mixture of some days lecture, some days reading / group-work / drill-work.  These classes cover the core subjects (literature, history, math, etc.) run every day, as well as arts, physical education, health, etc. run 2-3 days per week.  Classes will often mix students of two grade levels.

The practical afternoon session will run from ~1:30 pm to 4:00 pm, and enables students to pursue their non-academic interests.  These will be semester-long sessions, with students of all grade levels, teaching basics up to full projects.

Field trips will be an important part of the students' education.  These experiences allow them to experience, not just hear about, how different parts of their community operates (courtrooms, small and large businesses, government, etc.).  They also will recognize that, while they are observing others, others are observing them ... and their behavior reflects upon not just themselves, but their school, and their family.

To ensure the student and the family can feel a sense of community, there will be several groupings ("houses") of families, spanning all grade levels.  A student/family stays in that house until graduation.  In addition to breaking the ice for initiating new friendships, at school-wide events, these houses allow for friendly competitions.
